Import your Wealthsimple trades into a journal
Generate an activity statement in Wealthsimple, drop the CSV into NeoTLog, and every buy and sell is matched into round trips with statistics and a P&L calendar.
1. Export your trades
- On the Wealthsimple website (custom statements aren’t in the app), open the Profile menu (bottom left) → Documents → Generate document.
- Choose Custom activity statement, select the time period, click Next, then select the account(s).
- Download it as CSV. A monthly statement CSV (Documents → Statements) imports too.
Prices are in the cash you paid with. Wealthsimple reports a US stock bought with Canadian dollars at its Canadian-dollar price, and that is what the trade shows.
Dates only. Neither file has a time of day, so trades land at the start of their day. A file re-saved in Excel (6/18/2026) reads too.
No short sales. Wealthsimple can't sell short, so a sale of shares the file never bought — bought before its period, or transferred in — is left out and counted, not shown as a short. Generate the statement from your first trade.
Built from the documented format. This importer follows Wealthsimple's export as its documentation and open-source tools describe it, and is tested against that layout — not yet against a file from a NeoTLog user. If yours does not import cleanly, send it to support@neotlog.com and we will fix the importer.
2. What the file looks like
This is the header row the importer is tested against, with one row of sample data underneath it:
transaction_date,settlement_date,account_id,account_type,activity_type,
activity_sub_type,direction,symbol,name,currency,quantity,unit_price,commission,
net_cash_amount
2026-06-18,2026-06-18,ABCD1234CAD,Non-registered margin,Trade,BUY,LONG,DLR,
Global X US Dollar Currency ETF,CAD,2136,10.1851,0,
-21755.4
Wrapped here for reading — in the file each row is one line.
NeoTLog reads the Trade rows: activity_sub_type BUY or SELL, symbol, quantity (negative for a sale), unit_price, commission, currency and the account. The monthly statement CSV imports as well: its trades are written as text (Bought 0.4076 shares at $170.43 per share), and NeoTLog reads the symbol, shares, price and execution date from it.
3. Import it
- Create a free NeoTLog account, or log in.
- Open Import and choose Wealthsimple.
- Set the file timezone if the export does not carry one, then import. Duplicate rows from an overlapping date range are detected, so re-importing a wider export later is safe.
4. What you get
Fills are matched first in, first out into closed round trips, so an entry scaled in over several orders and out over two becomes one trade with one average entry, one average exit and the right quantity. From there:
- Net P&L, win rate, profit factor, expectancy, average win and loss, max drawdown
- Equity curve and P&L calendar by day and week
- Commissions and fees, wherever the export carries them
- Notes, tags and strategies per trade, plus chart screenshots saved to your account on Plus and Pro
- AI performance reports, the AI assistant and the screenshot SL/TP reader on Pro
5. What doesn't import
- Dividends, interest and contributions
- Transfers between accounts
- Fees charged on their own rows
Questions
Activity statement or monthly statement?
The activity statement if you can: it has the exact quantities and prices in columns. The monthly statement imports too, from the text of each trade.
Crypto?
Crypto purchases and sales in the monthly statement import. A purchase carries its fee; the fee on a sale is a separate row, which is not imported.
Do I need a paid plan?
No. Basic is free: 100 trades per calendar year (imported or entered) on one trading account, with no card. Plus adds unlimited imports and accounts, chart screenshots, MAE/MFE and a price chart of each trade; Pro adds AI performance reports, the AI assistant and the screenshot SL/TP reader. You can try Pro free for 14 days, once per account, with no card.
I trade on another platform too.
NeoTLog reads exports from 60+ platforms, and on Plus and Pro several accounts can live in one journal. The guides are listed on the import page.
