Import your Upstox trades into a journal

Download your trade report from Upstox, drop the Excel file into NeoTLog, and every equity and index-option fill is matched into round trips with statistics and a P&L calendar.

1. Export your trades

  1. In the Upstox app, tap the Upstox icon at the top left, go to My account → Reports and choose Trade report.
  2. Tap Filters, select the segment and the date range (or a financial year), then tap Get report.
  3. Download the report in Excel format; the PDF can’t be imported.

Excel, not PDF. The report downloads as PDF or Excel; only the Excel file can be imported.

Equity and index options. Those are the rows seen in real reports. Futures, commodity and currency rows are skipped and counted until a real report shows their layout — send one to support@neotlog.com and we will add them.

No charges, no tickers. The report has neither brokerage nor taxes (set a fee rule for Upstox to include them), and it names the company rather than its ticker. An option held to expiry has no closing row and stays open — close it in NeoTLog at the settlement price.

Built from the documented format. This importer follows Upstox's export as its documentation and open-source tools describe it, and is tested against that layout — not yet against a file from a NeoTLog user. If yours does not import cleanly, send it to support@neotlog.com and we will fix the importer.

2. What the file looks like

Upstox's trade report is an Excel workbook with one sheet, TRADE: a banner with your client code and the report period, then a table with these columns:

Each row is one fill. NeoTLog reads Date and Trade Time, Side, Quantity and Price. An equity row is named after its Company, in capitals and without Limited or Ltd (EXAMPLE INDUSTRIES), since the report writes one company more than one way; an option after its underlying, expiry, strike and type: NIFTY 2026-10-20 25150 CE. BSX, BSE's code for SENSEX, becomes SENSEX.

3. Import it

  1. Create a free NeoTLog account, or log in.
  2. Open Import and choose Upstox.
  3. Check Date format: it is preset to DD-MM-YYYY. If your export writes dates another way, change it first, then drop in the file.
  4. Set the file timezone if the export does not carry one, then import. Duplicate rows from an overlapping date range are detected, so re-importing a wider export later is safe.

4. What you get

Fills are matched first in, first out into closed round trips, so an entry scaled in over several orders and out over two becomes one trade with one average entry, one average exit and the right quantity. From there:

5. What doesn't import

Questions

Which time zone are the times in?

Indian Standard Time, with no zone in the file. It is preselected on import.

Why is the date format DD-MM-YYYY?

Upstox writes dates day first (14-10-2026). It is preselected, so 01-09-2026 is read as 1 September.

Why is a sale left out?

Its shares were never bought in this report — bought in an earlier one, or from an IPO or a transfer. Import the earlier report first. A sale bought back the same day is an intraday short, and imports as one.

Do I need a paid plan?

No. Basic is free: 100 trades per calendar year (imported or entered) on one trading account, with no card. Plus adds unlimited imports and accounts, chart screenshots, MAE/MFE and a price chart of each trade; Pro adds AI performance reports, the AI assistant and the screenshot SL/TP reader. You can try Pro free for 14 days, once per account, with no card.

I trade on another platform too.

NeoTLog reads exports from 60+ platforms, and on Plus and Pro several accounts can live in one journal. The guides are listed on the import page.
