Import your MetaTrader 5 trades into a journal
Export the History tab from MT5, drop the report into NeoTLog, and each position arrives with entry, exit, volume, swap, commission and the broker's profit.
1. Export your trades
- In MetaTrader 5, open the Toolbox window.
- Go to the History tab.
- Right-click inside the History tab and select the date range, such as All History or Custom Period.
- Set the history view to Positions if available. If not, use Deals.
- Right-click again and select Report.
- Save the report as HTML/HTM or XLSX.
- Upload the exported file here.
Positions if you can, Deals if you cannot. Both import. Positions is already round-tripped by MT5; Deals is fill-level and gets paired on our side.
Orders is not the same thing. An Orders report lists instructions, including ones that never filled, so it produces no trades.
2. What the file looks like
This is the real header row, with one row of sample data underneath it:
Ticket,Open Time,Type,Volume,Symbol,Open Price,S/L,T/P,Close Time,Close Price,
Commission,Swap,
Profit
46701322,2026.06.17 15:31:10,buy,1.00,EURUSD,1.08500,0.00000,0.00000,
2026.06.17 15:45:00,1.08700,0.00,0.00,
200.00
Wrapped here for reading — in the file each row is one line.
This is the Positions view, where each row is a complete trade. NeoTLog also reads the Deals view, where each row is one execution with a Direction of in or out — those are paired first in, first out, and commissions on both the opening and closing deal are counted, which is how MT5 brokers usually charge.
3. Import it
- Create a free NeoTLog account, or log in.
- Open Import and choose MetaTrader 5.
- Drop in the file. The date format is preset to YYYY.MM.DD; the preview shows you straight away if your export uses another one.
- Set the file timezone if the export does not carry one, then import. Duplicate rows from an overlapping date range are detected, so re-importing a wider export later is safe.
4. What you get
Fills are matched first in, first out into closed round trips, so an entry scaled in over several orders and out over two becomes one trade with one average entry, one average exit and the right quantity. From there:
- Net P&L, win rate, profit factor, expectancy, average win and loss, max drawdown
- Equity curve, P&L calendar by day and week, and time-of-day and session breakdowns
- Commissions and fees, wherever the export carries them
- MAE and MFE per trade — how far the position ran against you and for you before it closed
- Notes, tags and strategies per trade, plus screenshots saved to your account
- AI performance reports and the screenshot SL/TP reader on the paid plans
5. What doesn't import
- Orders-only reports
- Open-positions-only reports
- Deposits, withdrawals and balance operations
- Reports saved in a language other than English
Questions
Is this the same file as MT4?
No. MT4 and MT5 lay their statements out differently, and NeoTLog has a separate importer for each. Pick the one that matches your terminal.
I trade a hedging account.
Fine. The Positions view already resolves hedged positions into completed trades, and the Deals view pairs them first in, first out.
HTML or XLSX?
Either. XLSX is the safer pick if your broker's HTML report renders oddly in the browser.
Do I need a paid plan?
No. The free plan includes 100 imports per calendar year and needs no card. Paid plans add AI performance reports, the screenshot SL/TP reader and unlimited imports.
I trade on another platform too.
NeoTLog reads exports from 50+ platforms, and several accounts can live in one journal. The guides are listed on the import page.
