Import your MetaTrader 4 trades into a journal
Save an Account History report from MT4, drop the HTML file into NeoTLog, and every closed trade arrives with entry, exit, lot size, swap, commission and the broker's own profit.
1. Export your trades
- In MetaTrader 4, open the Terminal window.
- Go to the Account History tab.
- Right-click inside the Account History tab and select the date range, such as All History or Custom Period.
- Right-click again and select Save as Report or Save as Detailed Report.
- Save the file as HTML/HTM.
- Upload the exported HTML/HTM file here.
Save as Detailed Report, and set the period first. Right-click the Account History tab to choose All History or a custom period before you save, or the report only covers what is on screen.
Balance rows are not trades. Deposits, withdrawals and credits sit in the same table and are skipped on import, which is why the trade count can be lower than the row count.
2. What the file looks like
MT4 saves an HTML report rather than a CSV. Its Closed Transactions table carries:
TicketOpen TimeTypeSizeItemPriceS/LT/PClose TimePriceCommissionTaxesSwapProfit
MT4 calls the symbol column Item and writes Price twice — once for the open, once for the close. NeoTLog reads them positionally, the way the statement is laid out, and folds Commission, Taxes and Swap into each trade's cost.
3. Import it
- Create a free NeoTLog account, or log in.
- Open Import and choose MetaTrader 4.
- Drop in the file. The date format is preset to YYYY.MM.DD; the preview shows you straight away if your export uses another one.
- Set the file timezone if the export does not carry one, then import. Duplicate rows from an overlapping date range are detected, so re-importing a wider export later is safe.
4. What you get
Fills are matched first in, first out into closed round trips, so an entry scaled in over several orders and out over two becomes one trade with one average entry, one average exit and the right quantity. From there:
- Net P&L, win rate, profit factor, expectancy, average win and loss, max drawdown
- Equity curve, P&L calendar by day and week, and time-of-day and session breakdowns
- Commissions and fees, wherever the export carries them
- MAE and MFE per trade — how far the position ran against you and for you before it closed
- Notes, tags and strategies per trade, plus screenshots saved to your account
- AI performance reports and the screenshot SL/TP reader on the paid plans
5. What doesn't import
- Strategy Tester reports
- Open-trades-only reports
- Deposits, withdrawals and balance rows
- Reports saved with the terminal in a language other than English
Questions
Which brokers does this cover?
Every broker running MT4 — IC Markets, Pepperstone, FxPro, FTMO, Exness, XM, FP Markets, OANDA, Tickmill and the funded firms built on it. The report is the platform's, so the broker only changes the logo at the top.
My report is not in English.
Switch the terminal language to English and save the report again. The importer matches the English column names, so a translated statement will not read correctly.
.htm or .html?
Both, and MT4 writes either depending on version. Upload it exactly as saved, without opening and re-saving it in Excel.
Do I need a paid plan?
No. The free plan includes 100 imports per calendar year and needs no card. Paid plans add AI performance reports, the screenshot SL/TP reader and unlimited imports.
I trade on another platform too.
NeoTLog reads exports from 50+ platforms, and several accounts can live in one journal. The guides are listed on the import page.
