Import your IG trades into a journal

Download your history from My IG, drop the CSV into NeoTLog, and every closed spread bet and CFD arrives with entry, exit, size and IG's own P&L — share dealing too.

1. Export your trades

  1. Log in to My IG and open the account under Live accounts (spread bet, CFD or share dealing).
  2. Open History: Transactions for spread bets and CFDs, Trade History for share dealing and ISAs.
  3. Set Type to All and choose the dates, then click Show History and Download CSV.

Transactions for spread bets and CFDs, Trade History for share dealing. A share-dealing or ISA account's Transactions file lists trades only as cash movements — consideration, commission, fees — not as executions. Its Trade History file lists every execution, and NeoTLog matches those into round trips, commission and charges included; a sale of shares bought before the file is left out, since the account can't sell short.

Not only English. A French file, with Ordres de clôture and Allemagne 40 au comptant, has the same columns as an English one and imports the same way.

Built from the documented format. This importer follows IG's export as its documentation and open-source tools describe it, and is tested against that layout — not yet against a file from a NeoTLog user. If yours does not import cleanly, send it to support@neotlog.com and we will fix the importer.

2. What the file looks like

This is the header row the importer is tested against, with one row of sample data underneath it:

Date,Summary,MarketName,Period,ProfitAndLoss,Transaction type,Reference,Open level,
Close level,Size,Currency,PL Amount,Cash transaction,DateUtc,OpenDateUtc,
CurrencyIsoCode

Wrapped here for reading — in the file each row is one line.

This is the Transactions file of a spread-bet or CFD account: one row per closed position. NeoTLog reads MarketName, the signed Size (+ long, − short), Open level, Close level, OpenDateUtc, DateUtc and IG's PL Amount in CurrencyIsoCode. Rows marked as a cash transaction — deposits, funding, fees — are skipped.

3. Import it

  1. Create a free NeoTLog account, or log in.
  2. Open Import and choose IG.
  3. Check Date format: it is preset to DD/MM/YYYY. If your export writes dates another way, change it first, then drop in the file.
  4. Set the file timezone if the export does not carry one, then import. Duplicate rows from an overlapping date range are detected, so re-importing a wider export later is safe.

4. What you get

In the Transactions file each row is already one complete trade, so it arrives as one trade with its entry, exit, size and IG's own P&L. A share-dealing Trade History file lists executions instead, which are matched first in, first out into round trips. From there:

Questions

Which time zone are the times in?

The Transactions file carries UTC times of its own and they are read as UTC. A share-dealing Trade History file is taken as UK time, which is preselected on import.

Why is the profit taken from the file?

Because a CFD's value per point depends on the contract — Germany 40 Cash (€1) or (€25) — and a spread bet's on your stake. IG's figure, in your account's currency, is the one your balance moved by.

Do I need a paid plan?

No. Basic is free: 100 trades per calendar year (imported or entered) on one trading account, with no card. Plus adds unlimited imports and accounts, chart screenshots, MAE/MFE and a price chart of each trade; Pro adds AI performance reports, the AI assistant and the screenshot SL/TP reader. You can try Pro free for 14 days, once per account, with no card.

I trade on another platform too.

NeoTLog reads exports from 60+ platforms, and on Plus and Pro several accounts can live in one journal. The guides are listed on the import page.
