Import your Avanza trades into a journal

Export your transactions from Avanza, drop the CSV into NeoTLog, and every purchase and sale is matched into round trips, with the courtage, statistics and a P&L calendar.

1. Export your trades

  1. Log in to Avanza and go to Min ekonomi (My finances) → Transaktioner (Transactions).
  2. Choose the period and the accounts: your whole history with every account in one file, or one account per file if you import a period at a time.
  3. Click Exportera transaktioner (Export transactions) to download the CSV file.

Avanza writes no ticker. The security's name — Exempel Inc above — is the symbol, exactly as Avanza writes it, so purchases and sales of the same security match up.

Several accounts in one file stay apart. An ISK and a depå exported together are matched separately by the Konto column, so a sale in one never closes a purchase in the other. To import a period at a time, though, export one account per file: holdings from an earlier import carry into a file of one account only. Older exports import too: the 2024 Courtage (SEK) column, and the layouts before it where the exchange rate only shows in the amount.

Sales of shares from before the file. A sale the file has no purchase for — shares bought before the dates you exported, or moved in from elsewhere — is left out and counted in the import message, unless the file buys them back the same day: that is a day trade's short, and it imports as one.

Built from the documented format. This importer follows Avanza's export as its documentation and open-source tools describe it, and is tested against that layout — not yet against a file from a NeoTLog user. If yours does not import cleanly, send it to support@neotlog.com and we will fix the importer.

2. What the file looks like

This is the header row the importer is tested against, with one row of sample data underneath it:

Datum;Konto;Typ av transaktion;Värdepapper/beskrivning;Antal;Kurs;Belopp;
Transaktionsvaluta;Courtage;Valutakurs;Instrumentvaluta;ISIN;
Resultat

2025-03-10;ISK;Köp;Exempel Inc;2;330,16;-7104,41;SEK;21,45;10,72655;USD;
US0000000001;

Wrapped here for reading — in the file each row is one line.

NeoTLog reads Datum, Konto, Typ av transaktion, Värdepapper/beskrivning, Antal, Kurs, Courtage, Valutakurs and Instrumentvaluta. Köp and Sälj rows are the trades, and a split — an Övrigt row with the shares it added — adjusts the position. Prices stay in the security's own currency, and the courtage, charged in kronor, is converted into it with the row's exchange rate.

3. Import it

  1. Create a free NeoTLog account, or log in.
  2. Open Import and choose Avanza.
  3. Check Date format: it is preset to YYYY-MM-DD. If your export writes dates another way, change it first, then drop in the file.
  4. Set the file timezone if the export does not carry one, then import. Duplicate rows from an overlapping date range are detected, so re-importing a wider export later is safe.

4. What you get

Fills are matched first in, first out into closed round trips, so an entry scaled in over several orders and out over two becomes one trade with one average entry, one average exit and the right quantity. From there:

5. What doesn't import

Questions

Are there times in the file?

No, Avanza writes the date only (2025-03-10, the preset). A trade's time of day is not known, so it lands at the start of its day.

ISK, KF or depå?

All of them export the same way. Export your whole history with every account in one file — each account is matched on its own — or one account per file if you import a period at a time.

Do I need a paid plan?

No. Basic is free: 100 trades per calendar year (imported or entered) on one trading account, with no card. Plus adds unlimited imports and accounts, chart screenshots, MAE/MFE and a price chart of each trade; Pro adds AI performance reports, the AI assistant and the screenshot SL/TP reader. You can try Pro free for 14 days, once per account, with no card.

I trade on another platform too.

NeoTLog reads exports from 60+ platforms, and on Plus and Pro several accounts can live in one journal. The guides are listed on the import page.
